Are you considering getting a new body piercing or replacing an old one? Whether you're a seasoned body piercer or a first-timer, choosing the right piercer is a crucial decision that can make or break your experience. With so many options out there, from trendy pop-up shops to high-end studios, it can be overwhelming to narrow down your choices. How do you know who to trust with your body and where to find them? In this ultimate guide, we'll explore everything you need to consider when choosing the right body piercer for your needs. From qualifications and experience to hygiene practices and aftercare, we'll cover all the essential factors that separate the best from the rest. So buckle up and get ready to discover how to make
When it comes to body piercing, choosing the right piercer can be critical for your health and safety. Proper piercing techniques are essential to prevent infections or complications that could arise from an inexperienced or untrained piercer. It's important to take the time to research your options carefully, instead of simply selecting a piercer based on price or convenience alone.
A professional body piercer should prioritize safety by using disposable needles, sterile equipment, and taking steps to minimize any risk of injury during the procedure. Inexperienced or unlicensed providers may cut corners in these areas, which could put you at risk for serious complications like infections, allergic reactions, scarring or nerve damage.
Ultimately, choosing a highly qualified and experienced professional is key as they will not only guarantee better results but also ensure that you're treated safely throughout every step of the process - making sure you choose the right body piercer is paramount!
When it comes to making sure you choose the right body piercer, research is key. Start by asking for recommendations from friends or family members who have had positive experiences with a body piercer. You can also search online for reviews and ratings of local piercing studios. Look for studios that prioritize cleanliness and sterilization, as well as those that use high-quality jewelry made from materials like titanium or gold.
Once you have a list of potential body piercers, take the time to visit each studio in person. Observe the cleanliness of the space and ask about their sterilization processes. Don't be afraid to ask questions about their experience and qualifications, including any certifications they may hold.
Another important factor to consider is the range of services offered by each body piercer. Some may specialize in certain types of piercings or have more experience with specific areas of the body. Make sure you choose a piercer who has experience with the type of piercing you want.
Overall, taking the time to research your options and choose a qualified, experienced body piercer is essential for ensuring your health and safety during the piercing process.
When looking for a professional body piercer, it's crucial to consider their qualifications and experience. Certifications from recognized organizations like the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) are an indication that the piercer has undergone formal training and passed exams on safety, sterilization, anatomy, and other critical aspects of performing piercing procedures. Additionally, a body piercer with years of experience has likely encountered various scenarios during consultations or while performing different types of piercing procedures. They can offer advice on what type of jewelry works best for your skin sensitivity or which location is optimal for specific body parts. When discussing qualifications and experience with potential piercers, ask to view their portfolio showcasing some examples similar to the one you're interested in getting; this will give insight into their workmanship quality too!
When it comes to getting a body piercing, communication with your piercer is crucial. A good body piercer should take the time to listen to your needs and concerns and provide clear instructions on how to care for your new piercing after it's done. They should also be willing to answer any questions you may have before, during, and after the process.
You should feel comfortable expressing any reservations or preferences you have beforehand so that they can be taken into account during the procedure. The right piercer will make sure that you are as informed as possible about every step of the process.
Remember, this is a big decision - not only because of aesthetics but especially for health reasons. A capable professional will understand all aspects of cross-contamination prevention techniques while having an open discussion regarding potential allergies and personal health issues which may affect proper healing post-procedure.
Aftercare is a crucial part of the body piercing process, and it's important to choose a piercer who provides proper instructions. A good piercer will give you detailed information on how to care for your new piercing, including cleaning methods and products to avoid. They should also be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have during the healing process.
It's important to follow the aftercare instructions provided by your piercer to prevent infection and promote healing. This may include avoiding certain activities or products, such as swimming or using harsh soaps. Your piercer should also provide you with a timeline for when you can change your jewelry and when your piercing will be fully healed.
If you experience any issues during the healing process, such as excessive swelling or discharge, it's important to contact your piercer immediately. They can provide guidance on how to address the issue and may recommend seeking medical attention if necessary.
Remember, proper aftercare is essential for a successful piercing experience. Choose a piercer who prioritizes aftercare and provides thorough instructions to ensure your piercing heals properly.
In conclusion, choosing the right body piercer is an important decision that should not be taken lightly. Your health and safety are at risk if you choose a subpar or inexperienced piercer. Do your research, look for qualifications and experience, communicate your needs clearly, and ensure proper aftercare instructions are provided. By following these guidelines, you can feel confident in selecting a professional body piercer who will provide quality service while prioritizing your well-being. Remember to prioritize both aesthetics and safety when it comes to finding the perfect body piercer for you!

I’m often asked why I don’t use piercing guns at Vesso Art Studio, and put simply, it’s because they are dangerous.
]]>I’m often asked why I don’t use piercing guns at Vesso Art Studio, and put simply, it’s because they are dangerous.
Reusable ear-piercing guns, which are used by high-street retail shops offering piercing services (often aimed at children), and in some piercing studios, introduce unnecessary risk into the process and can result in lasting damage.
There are two main issues:
Unlike using single-use, disposable piercing needles, you cannot be guaranteed that reusable ear-piercing guns have been properly sterilised.
Plastic ear-guns in particular, which cannot be sterilised in an autoclave, may not be sufficiently cleaned between use on multiple customers. This means the gun, which comes into direct contact with blood and body fluids, can become contaminated with bloodborne pathogens dozens of times in one day. This heightens the possibility of bloodborne disease-causing microorganisms through such ear piercing, as many medical studies report.
Piercing guns can also cause significant body tissue damage. Although slightly pointy in appearance, most ear-piercing studs are actually quite dull and broad tipped. Piercings must therefore be accomplished by using excessive pressure over a larger surface area in order to force the metal shaft through the skin. The effect on the body is more like a crush injury than a piercing and causes similar tissue damage. Medically, this is referred to as "blunt force trauma”. As a minimum, this causes significant pain and swelling, and at worst results in scarring and potentially increased incidence of auricular chondritis, a severe tissue disfigurement.
Using a needle, the skin is literally ‘pierced’. The needle is hollow and has a sharp point to create a clean hole - it removes a small amount of skin and tissue for the jewellery to rest, allowing room for the wound to drain and to heal. This also makes it a less painful option, which is an important consideration, particularly when piercing children’s ears.
If you want a piercing done, it’s important to go with an expert who uses proper methods and is familiar and trained in bloodbourne pathogens and infection control.
At Vesso Studio, we only ever pierce with a brand new, completely sterilized single-use needle that is immediately disposed of in a ‘medical sharp’ container after use on one piercing.
We pride ourselves in our top-notch cleanliness and professionalism. All of our reusable equipment are diligently cleaned using top quality medical grade cleaners, then sterilised by our class B Statim 2000 autoclave at 134 degrees which regularly undergoes checks to insure it is running correctly.
We open all tools, single-use needles and jewellery in front of our customers so you can see it is fresh from the sterile packaging.
We will give you aftercare instructions before you leave and also email a copy in case you forget. It’s important to remember the basics: keep it clean, don’t touch it all the time, do not sleep on it - and make sure you come back when advised for downsizing the jewellery or you could risk irritation or infection.
The most important thing to remember is we do everything we can to make the process as safe, quick and comfortable as possible.
